Opening the show was Matt Stark of Stark Salon and Stark Style, who showcased four takes on the classic bowl-cut - set to be a huge trend for 2014. Taking inspiration from music, the audience saw a 90s grunge take on the look and a more classically groomed 1960s style.

Next up was Dan Gregory, who is launching his Man Made London salon in November. Described as a private members club with barbering, the new salon will also provide men's grooming. His demonstration was a masterclass in barbering, with clipper-over-comb work used to create smart 20s-inspired styles.

Bringing a model army to the stand next was TONI&GUY, whose male experts Jody Taylor and Kevin Luchmun presented ten models. Representing the TONI&GUY 50|50 collection and label.m campaign, as well as their respective entries for HJ's Men's Hairdresser of the Year, it was an extensive showcase of men's fashion for the coming months.

Closing the men's showcase for the day were the team from the men-ü academy, who brought the best of male grooming to the stage with a live cut-throat shave - a service which they are also offering to guests on their stand at Salon International 2013.
The HJ Men show is live every morning of Salon International - check out the full roster of barbers and men's hairdressers who will be appearing
