HJ is proud to present SNAP! competition allowing all hairdressers of any skill level, anywhere in the world to submit just ONE picture of their best work.
This competition is now closed, stay tuned for the finalists announcement coming soon!
All you need to do is simply take a single image on your phone and upload via our entry form. Your image must be shot on a phone with a plain background and entries must be strictly #nofilter and no editing.
There are six SNAP! categories to choose from:
- BARBERING: This category is for barbers and we are looking for the image that captures your best work over the last 12 months, demonstrating the latest commercial barbering trends.
- BRIDAL: Send us your favourite bridal look from the last 12 months whether it be a beautifully finished blow dry or an intricate hair up that includes hair pieces and/or extensions.
- COLOUR: Have you created an exceptional colour look in the last 12 months? If yes, then this is the category for you as we want to see your best colour image.

- COMMERCIAL: Entrants to this category should submit an image showcasing commercial, wearable hair that reflects current trends and has been created in the last 12 months.

- CREATIVE: This category is for those who love creating avant garde hair and you can use extensions, pieces, strands, colour and texture to ensure a truly inspirational look.
- TEXTURE: This category is for hairdressers that work with textured hair. This is your opportunity to showcase your talent and the image must be styled on textured hair.
This competition is judged on style, cut, colour and image produced. The top 10 images in each category will be displayed in a Gallery at Salon International from 12-14 October at ExCeL London. The winners of each category will be announced live at Salon International on Monday 14 October.
What's the SNAP! prize?
The winner of each category will receive a glittering trophy, be featured in Hairdressers Journal International, the opportunity to work on the HJ Academy Stage at Salon International 2025 and a complimentary ticket to the British Hairdressing Awards 2024, to celebrate at the biggest night in British hairdressing.
