Neil Capstick, managing director at Salon Promotions said: “After speaking to various hairstylists and professionals across the UK, clients have been asking to from light to dark with a special interest with more red colours such as auburn, terracotta and copper.”
Neil shares his expertise on how clients can care for and keep coloured hair healthy and shiny for long lasting effects.
Using the right shampoo and conditioner
Whether hair is platinum blonde or bright red, it is important to pick the correct shampoo to keep hair vibrant, healthy, and appropriately nourished. When selecting the best shampoo for coloured hair, it’s important to look at ones specifically formulated for treating coloured hair and work to maintain vibrancy while adding moisture when cleansing. Neil says: “Colouring hair can cause damage, so finding the right conditioner will reduce breakage. Conditioners with high performance ingredients will add moisture back into strands.”
Avoid heat
Repeated heat use will fade colour and suck away moisture, which can lead to damaged hair. Heat protection sprays are the best products to prevent moisture loss and smooth down frizz, making red and copper hair shine brighter. “Finishing sprays that offer UV and heat protection will protect coloured hair from fading when exposed to winter sun,” adds Neil.
Hair Masks
As winter approaches and hair starts to become looking more frazzled, recommending a good hair mask can help benefit clients’ hair. But it’s also equally important to recommend a hair mask that is going to work its magic depending on their hair type, thickness, and texture. “Make sure to squeeze hair to remove any excess water and allow for a better absorption before applying the product to the mid-lengths and ends.”
