Hot Trend: Twisted Knot
For a modern twist on a classic, you can’t go wrong with a textured chignon. A strong base is key for this style to hold out long after the party gets going.
Create the look with Jess Larrad, Goldsworthy’s:
- Prep hair with a setting spray. ∞ Blow-dry using a large round brush. If the hair could do with more volume use extensions to add some extra oomph.
- Tong hair away from the face and spray each segment. Section hair from the top of the head to the ear, backcomb to create height then tie the bottom portion into a ponytail twist and pull hair to destress and give texture and shape.
- Tease and twist the top section and secure with pins.
Timeless Classic: Pretty and Floaty Waves
Create the look with Matthew Curtis, Matthew Curtis Hair:
- Start with dry hair. Apply mousse around the hair line and throughout the locks to create a smoother nish and avoid any yaway hairline hairs.
- Using a medium-sized barrel tong start at the nape and work up the head tonging slightly horizontally away from the face (clipping and setting every section with a section clip).
- Spray the hair with shine spray and then use a wide toothcomb to comb through the hair and then clip along the ridges of the waves to set.
- Spritz a light working spray all over and then once clips are out brush over with a soft bristle brush, brushing all of the spray out to create a soft and glamorous wave.
Hot Trend: Sculptured and structured updo
Laura Leigh of Laura Leigh Hair & Beauty, Cheltenham is a fan of sculptured updos (pictured below) and Matthew Curtis predicts they will be hot property in the coming months.
“For 2018 I predict the Lebanese takeover on Instagram and Pinterest will lead to more requests for sculptured and structured hair-ups with polished and de ned texture. Timeless Classic: Romantic Updo
Create the look with Jay Birmingham, Jay Birmingham Hairdressing:
- Apply mousse and style the hair into a loose curl away from the face. Section the top and front of the hair away from the back and tie all of the hair at the back into a bungee.
- Add some foam padding around the hair tie to create the base for the relaxed bun.
- Softly backcomb the top section and allow this to fall over the back of the hair before gripping this into place again.
Hot Trend: Braids and Twists

at Hensmans Salons. Jess Larrad at Goldsworthy’s agrees and believes braids and twists will be used to show off colouring techniques this summer.

Timeless Classic: Glamorous Fun
A fun but glamorous look is ideal for a beach wedding.

- Style the hair with some height.
- Tong and pin the hair and leave it to rest for 20 minutes.
- Add extensions and padding on the crown.
- Use sections to pin the hair into the padding for full coverage.
- Keep the hair soft with lots of texture.
