HJ Live Ireland 2019 took place at the RDS Dublin on 20 to 21 October 2019 with a star line-up on the HJ Stage, including award-winning Irish artists and a number of British names who flew over to perform on the stage.
Sarah Mason and Roisin Hynes
Sarah and Roisin focused on looks that would work on the runways of fashion week for their slot on the HJ Stage at HJ Live Ireland 2019. Sarah created a folded back ponytail with a bun and gave it lots of texture. The style was given a razor cut front and she used gel to give it a wet look. While, Roisin tied lots of knots throughout the hair but gave it a soft look with lots of texture.
Menspire Academy
The team, which was led by Glenn McGoldrick presented a collection with the future of men’s hair in mind. The team featured long male hairstyles that cross the line between hairdressing and barbering as well as shorter styles that can be created using a graduated cutting technique.
Suzie McGill
The Rainbow Room International artistic director and Uk Schwarzkopf Professional ambassador flew over from Scotland to present a selection of looks from Rainbow Room International’s Ruby collection to celebrate the salon brand's 40th anniversary. She told the audience punky styles are really relevant at the moment and she gave her models’ hair an on-trend undone and grungy feel.
Chapter Education
The founders Paddy Corrigan and Warren Flynn shared a mix of contemporary men’s hairdressing ranging from shoulder length hair to a traditional barbering skin fade.
The Crow Street Collective by Darren Lacken
The team showed the audience that punky hair can have fluidity with a soft and flowy texture.
Rick Roberts
Rick flew to Dublin with a model who had long, curly and gorgeously thick and textured hair. He was keen to demonstrate how the model’s hair could be transformed from and long and wavy style into a glamorous exagerrated beehive featuring lots of on-trend pearl accessories.
House of Colour
The team presented their Schizo collection, which was inspired by the idea of giving each model a cut and colour that could be styled one way for working 9 to 5 and into a more playful way for evenings and weekends.
Frank Hackett
He shared lots of hints and tips with the audience and put a creative twist on his usual cutting technique by giving his two models commercial street looks.
Niall Colgan
Niall presented his signature short haircuts on the stage at HJ Live Ireland 2019. He wanted to show the importance of the cut within the salon, especially the short cut. He believes hairdressers should dedicate time to cutting a client’s hair and just like an architect, hairdressers should plan, build and design every haircut.
Organic Italian Hairdressing
The Organic Italian Hairdressing team impressed the audience by colouring hair with natural herbs and plants. The founders of the company, based in Ireland, explained every shade is bespoke. One of the models was given hair extensions featuring the natural shades, which ranged from pastel pink and purple to orange and green.
Amy Michelle Hairdressing
The Amy Michelle Hairdressing team showed how to give a client with fine hair or anyone suffering from hair loss a really natural result using hair extensions.
Wildflower Creative Studio
The team impressed the audience with an entire collection focused around pastel shades, pretty styling and lots of wildflowers were uses to provide the finishing touch.
