Hairdressers spend a large portion of their day on their feet, which is why it’s important to carefully consider your footwear choices in the salon. We asked HJ's Facebook and Instagram followers what the best shoes for hairdressers are, and the below are the brands and styles that keep soles singing, arches ecstatic and backs saying 'bring it on’…

Here are some other shoe recommendations for hairdressers, for hairdressers…

· Milika Master Colorist: My cowboy boots collection
· The Salon Cambridge: Nike ‘All Day’
· Paula Jane: Custom orthopaedic inserts
· Amanda Davidson: Vionics
· Norma Parsons: FitFlop sandals
· Sally Wilkinson: Vans and Crocs
· Nadia Linger: Puma, New Balance, Geox – I change every day
· Mary Easter Roth: New Balance 840

Some followers had a little more to say on the topic. For example, Salon42 shared: “35 years in the industry and Foot Reconstruction on both feet. Here’s what I learned… Forget about looking cute – you’ll pay for it later. There are stylists, and then there are stylists who really do the grind! If you’re one with a full book, eight hours a day, five days a week, do your body a favour and wear good shoes. You don’t see nurses running around in wedge heels. HOKA sneakers are my recommendation.”
However, Giovanni Smaldino offered up a different opinion, explaining: “Selling style by looking stylish. Beautiful shoes that match my look is as important as the comfort to me and I think my clients appreciate that.”
