Former British Hairdressing Champion, Angela Usher, has passed away after a two year battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
Angela was well known in the world of hairdressing during the 80s and 90s, under her former name Angela Stripe. She held the title of British Hairdressing Champion and represented the United Kingdom both at the World Championships in Rotterdam and the European Championships in Paris.
She was an international juror and trained the British Junior Team, as well as creating hairpieces for many competitions. Some of her work appeared in HJ, including the pictured basket weave which made the cover in the early 90s.
Her salon, Clayton Stripe International, was based in Tadcaster, Yorkshire and Angela was a president of York National Hairdressers Federation in the 1980s. She taught hairdressing at colleges across the north of England and was also a member of the Tresemmé team in the 90s.
Angela set up Wigs & Pieces in 2003 as an online retailer of wigs, hairpieces and accessories, but the business also provides advice and support to cancer and alopecia patients. It is now one of the UK's leading online retailers of its type and sells wigs via mail order to more than 65 countries.
Angela died at Hull Royal Infirmary this weekafter a two year battle with pulmonary fibrosis. She was 63.
