Alan Edwards

Alan started his Hairdressing Career in 1976, leaving school at 16 to Train as an Apprentice in Irvine Rusk. 

In these 11 Years Alan was with Irvine Rusk he became a key part of The Rusk Team, as a Stylist, Manager, and Art Team Member, being involved in Shows, Seminars and Photographic work.

In 1987, Alan left Rusks to open Alan Edwards Salon in the Briggait,  Glasgow with his Partner Elaine Hill – Growing the Brand into One of the Most Respected Salons in Scotland today.

Over the last 36 Years Alan has travelled the globe, sharing His Passion for Hair as an Ambassador for L’Oreal Professionel as well as an Educator for GHD.  

Being crowned as BHA, Scottish Hairdresser of the Year & Winner of the L’Oreal Colour Trophy 1993 with many other accolades to follow.

Working on Fashion & Hair Shows in the: USA, Australia, Asia & throughout Europe, his photographic work has graced the Covers of Hairdressers’ Journal, Creative Head as well as being published in Vogue, Marie Claire & Cosmopolitan.

Grooming the “Locks” of many a Scottish Celebrity Client such as Carole Smillie, Kirsty Young, Shareen Nanjiani, and Pam Hogg to name a few.   

Since Opening Alan Edwards Salon in 1987, Alan has been heavily involved in graduating over 150 Young Apprentices through The Salons Inhouse Educational Programme helping to produce Great Hairdressers, who Fly the Flag for SCOTTISH HAIRDRESSING.  In 2012 we opened Alan Edwards Educational Studios in the Heart of the Merchant City in Wilson Street Teaching Students from Home & Abroad.
