There's just something about French-girl style that makes Brit girls swoon; it's more effortlessly chic than we could ever manage... and we're not just talking about their outfits.
From Brigitte Bardot to Josephine de la Baume, French girls take the bedhead look that Londoners love so much and give it a glossy, healthy update. Never too 'done' but always immaculate, the current Parisienne look is all peekaboo fringes, wavy long locks and polished shine.
The colours may not be adventurous, but they're immaculate. Dip-dye? Non, merci. Whether blonde, brunette or auburn a la the aforemoentioned Ms de la Baume, it's about natural glosses and luminous, sheer finishes.
Our favourite French fancy is Clémence Poésy, who has gone from Fleur Delacour in Harry Potter to heroine in her own right in the upcoming Sky Atlantic series, The Bridge.
Here, was ask Michael Francos of D&J Ambrose in Pinner, Middlesex what he makes of this chic starlet;
“Clémence epitomises the definition of French chic and that effortlessly cool Parisienne-girl style. Her natural soft waves are a common request for a majority of salon clients looking for a blow-dry or finish that’s not too ‘done’.
“From acting on the big screen in Harry Potter to being the face of Chloé’s fragrance campaign, she always maintains a soft and feminine demeanour that appeals to both high end fashion and also consumer markets.
“With the French influence firmly dominating the fashion industry – from the popularity of Parisian brand The Kooples to the sophisticated chic of Raf Simons’ latest collection for Dior – Clémence’s French, girly style is very much on-trend while also providing a timelessly ladylike sophistication for clients.”
