Angelo Seminara is artistic director of Davines and a nominee for HJ's 2012 British Hairdresser of the Year. He has also won the title on two previous occasions.We caught up with Angelo to find out more about his signature style and how he reinvents his trademarks for each new collection - including his colourful 2012 entry.
What is your signature look?
"I have two signature looks. For clients, my aim is to make them feel and look amazing. For editorial, it is to create something new, that sets the trend for the future.
"If I am with a client I do a long consultation to understand their personality. I then tailor the look to reflect this. I often receive a brief for editorial work, other times we have a meeting when I'm told exactly what is required.
"I bring my experience and knowledge of culture to create looks that are perfect for that moment in time to their blank canvas."
What are the inspirations behind your signature looks?
"I am self-inspired, but femininity is the key to my work. A signature look reflects your brand and personality. It means you will attract clients and jobs from people who want what you have to offer. My clients are drawn to me because they want something different, feminine and a cut that will last."
The winner of the British Hairdresser of the Year will be announced at HJ's 2012 British Hairdressing Awards on Monday November 26th at the Grosvenor House.
