Aveda install an urban bee hive

Aveda-Bees.jpgFamed for their environmental leadership, Aveda has introduced a new eco initiative by installing two urban bee hives on the roof terrace of the flagship Aveda Lifestyle Salon and Spa in London.

The project has been pioneered by the Aveda Lifestyle Salon and Spa operations coordinator, Gemma Court who says "Our roof terrace is a natural wilderness and has matured over time to be a tiny nature reserve in an area better known for tourists and traffic jams.

"The hives will yield our very own honey that we will label and distribute to our staff, so we are guaranteed to get sweet reward for our investment."

The honey bee is in decline, which is threatening to destabilise an entire eco system of plants and animals that rely on the busy bees' industrious role in nature, so Aveda sought the help of the 'Honey Bees at Home' organisation to do their bit to aid the cause.

The roof terrace hives will now be used as a great source of education, entertainment and delicious London City honey.
