For the first time in the Alternative Hair Show’s 37 year history it was held at the ExCeL London’s ICC Arena to align with
Salon International 2019.
Host Linda Evans first greeted the packed audience before welcoming to the stage executive director of
HJ and Salon International, Jayne Lewis-Orr.
Jayne said, “It’s absolute honour and a pleasure to welcome you here this evening.”
“We are delighted, finally after all these years to bring the Alternative Hair Show alongside Salon International. When you see the work backstage you will be absolutely in awe and it’s all for such a great cause. I think we all need to say a huge thank you to Tony and Maggie Rizzo for pulling this together.”
The crowd were moved by the
Fighting Leukaemia Appeal video that then played showcasing the amazing work that the charity do with the money raised.
Next up the Alternative Hair International Visionary Awards took place hosted by Tony Rizzo, founder of Alternative Hair, and Anthony Mascolo, president of Alternative Hair.

Then it was show time. 15 amazing artists and salons pulled together an incredible show each telling their creative interpretation of this year’s theme, Parody. The stage was awash with bright, bold colours, graphic cuts and a fusion of textures.
With shows from the likes of Sanrizz, Anne Veck, Saco, HOB, Sassoon, Marc Antoni and the TIGI Creative Team it was hard to leave without feeling truly inspired by the creativity on display.
The event ended on a high as Tony and Anthony closed the spectacular night telling the audience they raised a whooping £163,600 this year.
