Since launching the Dyson
Supersonic back in 2016 and the
Airwrap in 2018, the pioneering brand has been waiting to shake-up the beauty world with another exciting hair care tool and now the brand is taking on the hair straightening market with its latest launch – the Dyson Corrale. Here we spill the details on everything you need to know about its latest drop!
What is the Dyson Corrale?
The Corrale is Dyson’s latest launch – it is a cordless straightener and the first and only straightener with flexing plate technology. The tool is suitable for all hair types and features Dyson’s Intelligent Heat Control for precise temperatures.
The 4-cell lithium-ion battery technology allows the tool to be cord-free, for stylists and clients alike to achieve sleeker hair styling anywhere and at any time.

What’s the science behind the Dyson Corrale?
The straightener has been in development for over seven years and over £25 million has been invested in research and development for the tool. The real stand-out feature is the flexing plates, which allows more hair to be gathered (hence the name) and straightened without needing too many passes over the same section. As a result, it makes users less reliant on heat to achieve their chosen style.
“We discovered that if the plates could conform to the precise profile of the tress, then with each pass we could apply the correct tension to all the hair strands,” says James Dyson, founder and chief engineer at the brand. “This means that we get enhanced styling without excessive heat damage. We simply do not need the heat that others apply. We engineered unique flexing plates of magnesium copper, wire eroded to a precise accuracy of 65 microns to adapt to the shape of the hair tress. The copper plates wrap around the tress, applying even heat and tension to all the hair strands, keeping them aligned.”
The brand has developed complex manganese copper alloy plate, featuring a mix of six metals to give flexibility, strength and thermal conduction. Each plate is precision machined to 65 microns – the width of a human hair – and tourmaline edged to produce ionising properties that help reduce static in the hair.
How long does it take to charge?
The straightener fully recharges in 70 minutes and provides up to 30 minutes, cord-free styling. You can place the straightener into the charging dock at regular intervals whilst styling or you can attach the magnetic 360° charging cable for a hybrid charge mode during longer styling sessions.
With the brand's expertise in cord-free vacuum technology it makes sense that the same advanced innovation went into the development of the battery for the Dyson Corrale. The straightener is powered by a four-cell lithium-ion battery but delivers the same thermal performance of a corded product with more versatility and universal voltage.
The Corrale also features flight mod, which means the device meets air travel standards and can be packed in cabin luggage for travel to most destinations.
What heat settings does the Dyson Corrale have?
The straightener features three heat settings; 165°C (330°F), 185°C (365°F) and 210°C (410°F).
The Dyson Corrale features Intelligent Heat Control technology using a platinum sensor, the temperature is measured 100 times a second and this technology communicates with a microprocessor which in turn controls the heating system delivering precise, accurate heat throughout use.
