The touching campaign behind the new 'ink on pink' ghd stylers

Ghd limited edition stylers, ‘Ink on Pink’, mark the brand's 15th year of supporting breast cancer charities, which to date has raised over £10 million globally.
The brand has collaborated with David Allen, Chicago-based tattoo artist, to create an original design based on his admired work with mastectomy scars. £10 from every sale from the ‘ink on pink’ collection will go to Breast Cancer Now, with the goal to raise a further £1 million.
David is known for creating abstract floral artwork that evokes a fierce sense of femininity. His work has become much more than a tattoo; instead, a powerful statement of self-love and returned confidence, symbolising both life and rebirth.
[ytp_video source="dpzkkE30q6M"]A Breast Cancer Care survey discovered that 26% of women found the end of the treatment the hardest part of breast cancer and only 10% of them felt positive after they were discharged from hospital treatment. Unfortunately, more than half, 53%, struggled with anxiety at the end of treatment and nearly a third, 31%, with depression.
Grace Lombardo, one of David’s clients and the face of the ghd pink campaign, explains the importance of her tattoo: “Cancer takes away more than your breasts. It takes your hair, your confidence. But my tattoo is something I decided to have, because I wanted to take back control.”
Following her own breast cancer treatment, her mastectomy tattoo has allowed her to recaptured the femininity that began to fade away due to cancer.
The award-winning ghd platinum+ and ghd gold stylers capture the beauty of the ink work and campaign itself. They are enwrapped in a delicate shade of pink glistering hue and intricate design created by David.
David shares his thoughts on collaborating with ghd: “The connection with ghd and this partnership makes sense. When I work with my clients, it takes time, we build back their confidence together and these incredible women open up to me. Much like that time you spend with your hairstylist, that intimacy and power of transformation is akin to one another.”
