HJ’s executive director Jayne Lewis-Orr welcomed guests to London's Grosvenor House Hotel and commended all the finalists on their achievements so far. She spoke about the growing interest in our great industry and said: “Never has it been more important to raise the profile of this incredible profession.” “Everyone here tonight knows and recognises the opportunities available but we have to make people understand that dreams can be realised and fortunes made in this business where experts really do impact the lives of the people they care for.”
National TV treasure Cat Deeley hosted the evening and opened the show with a display of her most questionable hairstyles throughout the years.
For the first time ever, longstanding sponsor Schwarzkopf Professional showcased its Ikonic Essential Looks Collection, which was a complete hit with the crowd. Stuart Hamid, Schwarzkopf Professional’s General Manager said: “It was an amazing night, full of incredible talent and creativity. It truly was a celebration of hairdressing and outstanding collections!"

Boyzlife duo Keith Duffy and Brian McFadden created a frenzy when they came on stage and took the audience back to the late nineties and early noughties with a selection of Boyzone and Westlife's biggest hits.

The most prestigious award of the night,
British Hairdresser of the Year, was awarded to Sally Brooks. She was absolutely thrilled because it was also the first time she had been nominated by her peers to be a British Hairdresser of the Year finalist.

On her award, Sally said: “Thank you to my team, not only for supporting me but for supporting each other.” She also encouraged her fellow hairdressers to take part in the awards: “I never thought I’d be standing up here accepting this, especially in front of people I respect so much.”
