The Emmy Awards, which celebrate the television industry, are one of the four major American awards for performing arts and entertainment. Whilst the
Oscars, perhaps the most notable of the four, often result in more extravagant styles than the Emmys, there is still plenty to take away from this year’s red (or mustard, if you’re being specific) carpet. Indeed, with the occasion featuring a more toned-down glam approach from many celebrities, the hair looks from the Emmys provide a more realistic take on the season’s hottest hair trends.
It's a refreshing change of pace from some of the unrealistic styles we often see at these kinds of events –
remember when Kim K went from black to platinum blonde in a day?
Here’s how you can make these Emmy Awards hairstyles work for your clients...
Zendaya
Kirsty Tremlett, Stylist at Gatsby & Miller, part of the Haringtons group, shares: "This timeless half up style on Zendaya not only compliments her gown beautifully but enhances her natural facial features with a snatched look, creating a more youthful, uplifted style.
You can help clients maintain this look by having weekly blow-dries, which will help to give the body & bounce. I would also recommend regular trims every six to eight weeks to ensure those ends remain picture perfect. The trick to this timeless look is to take a section from the front of the ear at an angle to the crown area, sleek it all back into a pony for the full uplifted look."

Sheryl Lee Ralph
Michelle Brace from Vivienne’s A listers admits: "I love Sheryl Lee Ralph’s Emmy Awards hair - a take on the power pony with a super long braided and embellished style. Embellishments really do take your look from glam to extra for the party season."

Alexandra Daddario
Jack Kilpatrick, director at JKPHairspa, says: "This is a beautiful and simple style that is perfect for Christmas and festive season parties; it’s a classic, yet understated, glamorous look. It can be easily implemented in salon by using irons and smoothing products. It does take us back to a more millennial trend with the side parting, which for me is much more glamorous than the middle parting we see a lot more of."

Reese Witherspoon
Coral Jade from Vienne’s A Listers shares: "I absolutely loved Reese Witherspoon’s simple and sleek hair - it is such a wearable and popular style for weddings and parties. It is an easy style to keep up with and looks great with any outfit. Regular treatments at the salon can help your clients maintain this style easily, as it will ensure their hair is shiny and smooth for that effortless, glam look."

Christina Ricci
Anna Stubbs from Vienne’s A Listers says: "Christina Ricci is giving pulp fiction vibes and proves why a classic bob will never go out of fashion. Its glossy high finish can be achieved in the salon with a simple demi/semi-permanent colour, or you could offer clients a clear gloss on their natural colour."
