The Hair and Barber Council have voted in a new Chair and Vice chair following a council meeting in July.
Council members have voted Ben Dellicompagni of The Francesco Group in as the new Chair, while industry business coach and consultant David Drew has been voted in as the new Vice Chair.
Keith Conniford, Registrar and CEO of the Hair and Barber Council, said: “With their differing skill sets, and positions within the industry, I believe we have an ideal combination of knowledge, experience and background with Ben and David, and I will be delighted to work with them both.”
Ben and his company run a large group of salons, a franchise division and a government funded training contract – meaning he has an unprecedented knowledge of the industry. This knowledge, paired with his history on the council, made him an ideal candidate for Chair.
Meanwhile, David Drew, who has previously stepped in as Interim Chair, has been a support of the Hair and Barber council for many years, along with an overall knowledge and commitment to the sector.
As the industry recovers from the effects of the pandemic, the level of uncertainty surrounding restrictions and funding during covid-19 has been difficult for salons. However, the Hair and Barber Council are set to support the sector more than ever.
“The perception and status of the Hair and Barber Council has grown hugely throughout the pandemic, and with a new ‘era’ facing our sector as a result of the pandemic, now more than ever before I believe is a time for change, and the Hair & Barber Council has to adapt, develop and grow accordingly. With the ever-increasing support we now have from all parts of the industry, and our specific work with Government and through our All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for hairdressing, barbering and cosmetology, we are in an unprecedented position to represent the sector at the highest level in Westminster,” explained Keith.
Ben and David have been welcomed to the council this week and are set to represent a new era for the council.
