The mullet offers the best of both worlds for clients who want short, choppy hair but want to keep some length too.“The mullet is the perfect haircut for someone who wants to make a hair statement, stand out from the crowd and still feel you have the luxury of short and long combined," says hairdresser David Corbett. Not just reserved for the red carpet, Australian Olympian sprint star Rohan Browning was also spotted sporting a mullet in Tokyo this week. Perhaps a pending influx of clients looking for those medal worthy mullets? While it’s been a staple during SS/21, will mullets disappear just as fast as they came back, or will clients be looking for the cut later in the year? Hairdressers Jason Cocking and Chris Baker of 4 Theatre Square Hair predict that it may be a short-lived throwback. “We’re in two minds about the trend, we do love it however don’t think it’ll last into AW – it seemed to really peak over lockdown, we think we all want to leave that behind and focus on other trends – especially colour. However we think we’ll keep seeing elements of the mullet with our clients, like the short razor bang,” explained Jason and Chris. Whilst the style may just be a summer fling, we can’t blame Miley for making the most of it. Joining in on the mullet movement is Billie Eilish, Doja Cat and Demi Lovato, who have all been spotted with the cut this year. As much as our hair envy is in full force, the mullet isn’t for the faint hearted as the haircut is possibly as bold as it gets. While it’s almost guaranteed that her hair will dramatically change again sometime soon, let’s appreciate the mullet trend while it lasts.View this post on Instagram
