Jack Howard, international hair colourist at Paul Edmonds and L’Oréal Professionnel UK colour spokesperson, has debuted a new technique called Permage. It’s a dual perm and colour service that will appeal to clients who are after sun-kissed beachy waves.
Permage combines a perm with face-framing lights, both of which are done in the same visit. Banish thoughts of 1980s perms though, with this technique Jack proves perms can look soft and modern. The process is ideal for mid-length to long hair, but may not be suitable for very pre-lightened styles.
Jack says: “This look is just what clients want, it’s beautiful, natural and easy to wear. The addition of a simultaneous colour technique clients get an instant beach ready hair and for the stylist it’s an opportunity to upsell a texture service for the salon.”
To perm the hair Jack uses Curlformers by Hairflair which are simple to use. They require no rolling, no end papers, and they result in a beach wave which lasts approximately 6-8 weeks. For more information on Curlformers head to their Facebook page @CurlformersPro or Instagram @curlformersbyhairflairpro.
“By adding in L’Oréal Professionnel Smart Bond during the process the hair stays strong and the result is nice and soft,” he adds. “It’s another reason for clients to visit a professional - this is a technique that can only be done in the salon."
