Wearable hair trends from london fashion week
90s Resurgence
Marc Trinder led the hair team with L'Oréal Professionnel for the Central Saint Martins MA Show at London Fashion Week, and while backstage, he shared: "We've got a cross-section of designers showcasing their work, and the models are all young, cool and edgy. So, we're going as little bit 'anti-hairdressing' - a nice, rebellious, lived-in look, with a slight nod to 90s grunge." While there were certainly some Avant Garde looks on display, we love these simple styles, which really allow the cut of the hair to take centre stage, and don't compete with the outfits. The Effortless Approach
Adam Garland, Global Advocate for Authentic Beauty Concept, was the lead stylist at Eudon Choi. The key focus was on natural texture, which you can see in this low ponytail. While the style itself isn’t too complicated, the trick to elevating this look in the salon lies in the prep work. Make sure your client’s hair is in great condition before starting, perhaps with a treatment service, and ensure their colour is topped up to give an effortless vibe. We love the addition of an accessory for a little sparkle.Say Hello to High Shine
Drybar, the US hair styling brand, partnered with ROKSANDA for London Fashion Week 2023, and looks were created by Lead Hairstylist Mark Hampton. He shared: "The days of when all the models had exactly the same hair on the catwalk are over. Straight hair focused on sleek and shiny hair which worked with the voluminous and feminine styles." Classic looks done right can make a big impact, case in point below.Wuthering Waves
While there was some variation in the hair looks on display at ERDEM's London Fashion Week Show, which was sponsored by Olaplex, one thing was clear - while side partings may be sweeping the nation, centre partings still reign supreme. Hair Stylist Anthony Turner crafted the dramatic hair looks, taking inspiration from Victorian heroines. He explained: “We were inspired by the more riotous women of this century, and so when it came to the creation of these looks, perfection went out the window.”One look imitated a maid’s up-do, that had become windswept and elegantly dishevelled. Anthony crafted a messy low pony with curls cascading down the back at different lengths which created the illusion of hair falling out of the clasp. This was framed with fluffy natural curls haloing the face, and hair that split across the tops of the ears. “We wanted to create the appearance of something that was once intentional, that has now become beautifully weathered,” added Anthony.
