HJ we're excited to announce the fast approaching competitions and awards for this year. Unfortunately many shows and competitions have been affected by the Coronavirus outbreak. We have updated the list to reflect the information we have on the events that have been postponed or cancelled.
Alternative Hair Show International Visionary Award
What: This is an international competition to celebrate the new generation of talent in hairdressing and showcase the industry’s biggest stars. All proceeds from the ticket sales of the Alternative Hair Show go towards charity Fighting Leukaemia.

HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards
What: If you’re an inspirational manager, major innovator or brilliant junior, enter
HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards. The awards will take place in June this year. Entries are now open and close on Friday 3 April.

L’Oréal Colour Trophy
What: A live hairdressing competition that showcases fashion-led hair looks with five awards – Colour Trophy, Men’s Image, Afro, STAR & introducing the new College Award. This year the L’Oréal Colour Trophy is celebrating 65 years with its biggest and most glamorous ceremony to date.
When: Monday 7 September

FHA UK Freelance Awards
What: The FHA Freelance Awards 2020 categories are: Colourist of the Year, Ladies Stylist of the Year, Bridal Stylist of the Year, Prom & Party Stylist of the Year and Creative Stylist of the Year. Due to the Covid-19 outbreak the event has been postponed this year to 2021.
When: Sunday 13 June 2021

HJ’s British Hairdressing Awards, sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional
What: This is the
industry’s most prestigious awards. There are 18 categories to choose from, including regional and specialist categories. Entrants must submit four photographs from a collection shot within the past 12 months. Due the outbreak we have updated rules and requirements to help with the entry and judging process.

Kao Salon Division Global Experience and Goldwell Global Creative Awards
What: The renamed
Goldwell Global Creative Awards (formerly known as Color Zoom) will feature stunning hair shows, an incredible venue, and will reveal the finalists who will go on to represent the UK and Ireland in the global finals. The Kao Salon Division Global Experience (formerly known as Global Zoom) is the international event that will take place in October and will feature the global final for the Creative Awards.
When: Kao Salon Division Global Experience will take place 10-13 October and the Goldwell Global Creative Awards will be held in late July/early August.

American Crew All-Stars Challenge
What: This year’s challenge will consist of individual in-country judging panels who will select their national winner. The winner will then move forward to participate in the Global competition where the Global Committee will name five top competitors as the All-Star Challenge 2020 Winners. The five finalists will receive $5,000 and an all-expenses paid trip to Los Angeles, USA to participate in an editorial photo shoot alongside American Crew founder and renowned photographer David Raccuglia.

Wella Xposure
What: A competition for hairdressing students that has been running for 19 years. You need to be studying for a NVQ/VRQ 2 or 3 for at least one day a week if you are based in the UK. If you are based in Ireland you need to be studying for QQI Level 5 or 6 for at least one day a week.
Key dates: Entries open on Thursday 9 January and close on Tuesday 18 February. Photographic results will be announced on Tuesday 9 March. UK Regional & Ireland Heats will take place from 22-30 April. The UK & Ireland Final will be held at the Wella World Studio London on Monday 1 June.

Wella Professionals TrendVision Award
What: Raise your profile and become a rising star with
Wella’s hair competition with money can’t buy prizes on offer. New for 2020, entrants can now enter on Instagram using a look created in the past 12 months and more people than ever will go through to the UK Regional and Ireland Heats. Changes have been made to reflect the impact of
Coronavirus.
When: Photographic entries open on Tuesday 3 March. The photographic entry deadline is now on 30 April. Photographic results will be announced on 26 May. The UK Regional Heats will take place on 1 June and 15 June. The UK & Ireland Final will be held on Monday 28 September.
Where: The final takes place at the Roundhouse, London.

NHBF Business Awards
What: The re-named
National Hairdressers and Beauty Federation (NHBF) will celebrate the best in the hairdressing, barbering and beauty business.

The Fellowship of British Hairdressing Fellowship Awards
Any Fellowship member can enter the
Fellowship Award’s categories, which include: Individual Salon of the Year, Salon Group of the Year, Fellowship Image of the Year and Fellowship Snapshot of the Year. Each category is judged by a panel of Fellowship members on two occasions with a different panel each time.

The Hair and Beauty Charity Ball 2020
A fabulous night where supporters, friends and sponsors of the charity come to together to celebrate the fantastic achievements that have occurred over the past year. This year the event will be held at Atmosphere 28 in London’s Millbank.

Professional Beauty & Hairdressers Journal International Awards
What: For the first time

Modern Barber Awards
What: The night before this year’s inaugural BARBERFEST hosted by
