Dopamine colour and street styling for spring 2023

Following her first collection, URBAN, Kay Binnersley delves into her inspiration behind the shoot, and discusses dopamine colour, which she believes will be a key trend in spring/summer 2023. She says: “‘Dopamine colour’ will be the spring/summer buzz word. It’s all about colouring that lifts the spirit, colouring and styling that is good for your soul. Colour evokes different feelings in us; with these turbulent times, choosing colours that inspire and create a feeling of wellbeing will be key in spring 2023.” Kay continues: “Have you ever thought why colour creates certain feelings inside of you? Some colours make you feel sad – they remind you of a time or place, whilst others lift your spirits and bring joy. Using dopamine colour we can bring a new level to our business and generate new clients. “Spring/summer 2023 hair will see lots of pastels – think pinks, lilacs corals and peach, teamed with bright clothing,” says Kay. “Fashion will feature colours of cobalt blue, orange, bright green and shocking pinks.” “I think we will also see bright, contrasting colours sitting side by side, giving definition to the hair, and layering of colours in workable palettes, helping to contour the style. dopamine colour “Creating colours that will require clients to return to the salon more regularly for maintenance is key in this coming year, as is encouraging our guests to invest in themselves and boost their confidence and feeling of wellbeing. This is where dopamine colouring is key. Styles will have an urban feel – they will be edgy – but easy to maintain. The simplest of looks can be transformed into a show stopping look. “We will see the Lob, French bob, graduated and inverted bobs riding high, often with a soft wave which will emphasise the angle of the cut. Why not take the look up a level with a beautiful pastel colour?” Meanwhile, Kay notes: “Long hair will still be bang on trend, with Hollywood waves becoming softer yet more shaped and manipulated into place, which will encourage clients into the salon. This inspired me to create this look in my collection, teaming the style with some bright cargos – taking a classic look and giving it a street-style edge. “Curls, including natural curls, will be a leading trend this spring – dressing them forward, placing them to create hight and having fun making them look and cheeky but sultry.” Concluding her predictions for the upcoming season, Kay says: “Spring 2023 is set to be colourful, vibrant, cheeky, edgy and fun, with dopamine colour taking centre stage."
