With 2022 drawing to a close, HJ decided to take a look at some of the biggest celebrity hair transformations of the year, from buzzcuts to overnight blonde...

Kim Kardashian

Being one of the most talked-about women on the internet, it's no surprise that we're kicking off this list with the reality TV star and entrepreneur. This May she channelled Marilyn Monroe at the Met Gala, donning the star's iconic 'Happy Birthday' dress and bleaching her hair to complete the visual. Kim revealed that she spent '14 hours straight' to achieve the hair transformation, however professionals were critical of the end result - and rightly so. More on this here.  Despite this, the mogul has persevered with the blonde, and a quick look at her Instagram reveals that the shade is still standing.

Julia Fox

Whilst Julia and Kim have an ex in common, it seems as though they do not share the same taste in hair - with the former having debuted grey roots at the CFDA Awards this November. Although it was a temporary hair transformation, the actress was keen to make a statement with her red carpet look, sharing that her inspiration was 'a love letter to getting older'.

Tessa Thompson

The actress debuted a stunning new hair colour at this year's Venice Film Festival,  jumping on board the colour trend of the year - copper. The hair transformation was short lived - the star went blonde after the event finished, before returning back to her natural black lengths. However, over the course of the weekend she made the most of the new look, gracing numerous red carpets.

Dixie D'Amelio

Ahead of New York Fashion Week, the social media star and singer shared a video of herself shaving her hair, having admitted that she just wanted to be 'a cool girl'.

Doja Cat

Keeping the buzzcuts coming, the rapper and singer debuted the style in August, after rocking a crop the month prior. Throughout the remainder of the year, she's switched from bleach blonde to brunette and back again, however the cut has remained consistent (albeit sometimes concealed by a wig).

Kendall Jenner

Reportedly the highest paid model of 2022, Kendal dyed her brunette locks copper back in March for Prada's Autumn/ Winter show in Milan, Italy. Whilst it's not uncommon for models to wear wigs on the runway, Jenner took the plunge and dyed her real hair for the show, with Matt Rez and Jenna Perry being credited for the colour work.

Aubrey Plaza

Last month the actress revealed her new hair transformation at The Governors Awards, and with the star being known for her rich brunette locks, her blonde debut on the red carpet came as a surprise to many. Days later, she posted a second photo with her blonde hair on Instagram, captioning it: 'Someday the blonde will all make sense...', leaving many to speculate that the new look is likely for an upcoming role.

Robert Downey Jr.

Known by many for his playboy-come-superhero persona, Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, is recognisable thanks to his retro glasses and signature quiff. However, following his departure from the Marvel franchise, the actor recently sported a bald head for an upcoming television role.
