The 95th Annual Academy Awards, better known as the Oscars, were held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on 12 March, and HJ has scored an insight into some of the hair looks seen on the red carpet…
Kate Hudson
Celebrity Hairstylist Jacob Rozenberg worked with Kate Hudson for the 2023 Oscars, creating a soft, voluminous blow-dry with cascading, Hollywood-style waves – and you can help your clients get the look by following these steps: https://www.instagram.com/p/CpuCLypu5ZY/- To start, Jacob prepped the hair with KERASILK Volumizing Shampoo and Foam Conditioner to create an ideal foundation for a voluminous look. He then used a paddle brush to detangle
- He then applied a hair mask all over to repair the hair, followed by rinsing and towel drying
- Next, Jacob added a volumising styling foam to create natural looking volume, with shine and heat protection for the red-carpet blowout
- After layering in the product, Jacob used the new VARIS AirQ Hairdryer, infused with Hydroionic Crystals that condition hair, and a boar brush, to give hair maximum shape and style
- After blow drying, Jacob used a heat protector and went in with a flat iron and the VARIS 1.5 Marcel Curler, which features dual ceramic heaters, to provide continuous heat and create long-lasting shape
- Jacob then applied a little taming balm to smooth hair and give a silky soft finish
- Before the finishing touches, Jacob brushed out the hair with a smoothing brush to reduce and static and frizz
- Lastly, Jacob finished off the look with a multipurpose hairspray for a touchable hold and a shiny finish that will make the look last all night
Allison Williams
Celebrity Hairstylist David von Cannon created a gorgeous updo for M3GAN star Allison Williams at the 2023 Oscars Awards, creating a loose chignon with free strands to keep the look youthful. Below, David shares the step-by-step routine on how to create the actress’ gorgeous hair look in salon: https://www.instagram.com/p/CptWD4XPGBb/?hl=en- David started by adding Hairstory’s Lift Volumizing Spray on the roots and Undressed Texturizing Spray on the mids and ends of the hair while it was damp and then blow dried with a round brush to give a wavy texture
- Once dry, David went in with small sections and curled all the hair with a 1 inch curling iron to give texture for the updo
- He then went in with a small amount of Hairstory Hair Oil to break up the waves and add some shine
- Once the texture was how David wanted, he loosely gathered the hair together in a low ponytail and made a loose chignon that wasn’t too perfect and had some pieces coming out to keep it young and fresh
