Red Carpet Season is in full swing for 2020, with the
Screen Actors Guild Awards and the
Golden Globes kicking off the New Year. Last night saw saw the highlight of the year for the music industry as the Grammy Awards took place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The incredible gowns were matched with on-trend hair looks so here's our round up of the best of the night.
The Best Grammy Awards Hair For 2020
Ariana Grande
Ariana stuck to her signature look for the show, were she performed one of her stand out hits '7 Rings'. However she has ditched her brunette hue for an
ombré look, in-keeping with the re-emergence of the look. "I loved Ariana Grande’s beautiful high ponytail - classy, elegant and understated," said Jayne Lewis-Orr, executive director of
Hairdressers Journal International.
Karen Thomson, owner of
KAM Hair and Body Spa says, "Ariana kept her
pony super-slicked back but left a piece of hair out at the face to give the look a softer appearance and to frame the face. Ariana’s blonde also looked toned down and ashy but great against her complexion with a darker root for low maintenance. Ariana’s ponytail was definitely one of the best hair looks at this year's Grammys and perfectly complimented her ball like gown, giving off serious Cinderella vibes."
Chrissy Teigen

Sun-kissed
bronde balayage? Tick. 2020's on trend
blunt lob? Tick. Chrissy Teigen's red carpet hair is sure to be hitting a lot of summer hair
inspiration mood board next season. "I'm obsessed with how simple this look is! Her hair is so glowy and healthy-looking I'm sure it was the envy of a lot other stars," says Akesha Reid,
HJ digital editor.
Lizzo

"It was Lizzo’s first time at the Grammys and her timeless style looked incredible with her old Hollywood meets early Diana Ross vibes," says Sam Ashcroft from
Brooks and Brooks. "The simple yet forever beautiful look really showed off her natural beauty."
For clients wanting to recreate this look at home, Sam says "It’s such a easy style to recreate at home using
L’Oreal Professionnel Pli and and a moisture balm.
Blow-dry the hair smooth with a deep side parting, then using your tong set your hair waves in the same direction to give you that beautiful S-bend. Brush through the cascading waves with high quality dressing brush and some shine spray.”
Dua Lipa

"Dua Lipa's contrasting root is a controversial style and something we are seeing more of - it's very reminiscent of the
1990s," says Ross Charles, owner of
Ross Charles Hairdressing. "Dua’s hair followed this darker shade through the sides and back and blonde slices could be seen through her slick bun. This style is quite far removed from Dua’s signature glossy bob and this bravery in changing her style is endearing. This colour palette is not for the fainthearted and as colourists we should consider carefully should a client request this as it won’t be for everyone."
HJ editorial intern Lydia Halsey says, "I love Dua Lipa's hairstyle, it shows how growing out your colour can still be really glamorous. The updo hairstyle also brings out
Dua's 50/50 colour, and the blonde tendrils really frame her face."
Camila Cabello

"Camila Cabello’s usual gorgeous
perm was transformed at this year's Grammy’s and we saw her sport an extra-long, super sleek, straight bum-grazing hair. It looked incredible paired with her strapless dress," says
Neil Barton, Goldwell ambassador and owner of Neil Barton Hairdressing. "The look was also finished off with a long, soft textured fringe, which works great with her face shape and makes sure all the attention is on her eyes."
Heidi Klum

Heidi brought her brow-grazing fringe game to the red carpet for this year's Grammy Awards. Simon Hill, owner of
Sesh Hairdressing is a fan of the look. "Heidi stepped out true to her statement style with loosely tousled, textured hair with longer bangs sweeping across her brows. The simplicity of this style oozes class and paired with her embellished dress it is the perfect amount of ‘undone’. This relaxed style is one of my favourites and I applaud her for staying true to what she likes even on the red carpet. My go to product for styles like this is
Sebastian ReShaper. It allows you to mould and shape the hair whilst giving it texture and hold."
