England hair salons and freelance stylists celebrate reopening
Q Hair and Beauty celebrate reopening with balloons decked out at the entrance
Dawn Lawerence, director at Q Hair and Beauty says her team couldn't wait to welcome guests back and they were full of excitement to return. Dawn's team celebrated reopening by decorating the entrance with balloons (pictured above) to create a fun welcome for clients and an Instagram opportunity too.
Dawn told HJ exclusively:
"The main difference this time is that we have gained more experience and confidence in preparing and operating. The relief of being open finally was incredible. It’s also encouraging to see the first days takings, re-bookings at 83% and retail being sent home with our clients. No-one can say if this is the last lockdown so, we need to keep our focus and constantly reevaluate our progress."
Self-employed stylist Dylan McConnachie says it was a day he will never forget
Dylan McConnachie, artistic director at Dylan McConnachie Hair, a self-employed stylist at Salon64 and FFØR ambassador describes reopening day as a day he will never forget.

Dylan told HJ exclusively:
The first day back was interesting and full of so many challenges – which of course, I absolutely loved. I saw a lot of incredibly dark and large COVID-19 roots, box dye colour disasters – the colour corrections and transformations were incredible but, did take a while to perfect. As well as this, I had many clients stepping out of their comfort zone and going for something more bold than ever before. I also had clients who opted for a subtle, yet natural colour. It was amazing being back in the salon and doing what I love.
Haringtons salon describes reopening day as absolutely crazy
Barry Maddocks, artistic director at Haringtons told HJ the reopening day was full of excitement and anticipation for what the next client's hair was going to be like. https://www.instagram.com/p/CNjrJOBj2z1/ He said:A lot of my clients had opted to cut their own hair via a YouTube tutorial and many colour clients had experimented at home – so it was a lot of colour corrections and extra conditioning treatments to bring the hair back to full health and get their colour back on track!
Self-employed stylist Darrel Starkey is seeing a trend for rich honey blondes
https://www.instagram.com/p/CMktSXTrKU2/ Self-employed stylist Darrel Starkey at Hair by Darrel based at Taylor's Hair Studio said the first days have been really full on. Darrel told HJ exclusively:Our first day was full of cuts, consultations and skin testing as we prepare to welcome our colour clients in as the days progress so it really was all systems go. The trends that are emerging are rich, honey blondes and full colour transformations which will make a statement. After a year of no hair appointments, clients are ready to go bold!
Siren Hair Art loved the atmosphere in the salon
Sheree Thompson, salon owner at Siren Hair Art described the atmosphere on the first day as being filled with happiness and excitement to make clients feel amazing again. Sheree told HJ exclusively:My first day back was full of cuts and restyles, it was great to see so many new transformations and funky cuts and my clients really embraced their own creativity. I had a real mixture of one length cuts, sweeping bangs added into styles, short creative cuts and just generally getting clients' hair summer ready!https://www.instagram.com/p/CNlFQPKDlys/
