The ghd VTCT Graduate Styling Programme has officially launched, providing the first ever regulated and approved hair styling qualification.
Open to all UK hairdressers, the programme comprises eight modules, of which students pick six; three of which are mandatory and a further three in areas they are keen to specialise in. These specialisms include vintage hair, bridal styling and session work.
Each seminar is taught by a ghd expert at the brand's Soho studio and the entire programme can be finished in up to eight months. Successful graduates will hold a QCF ghd styling qualification on completion.
The programme has been put together by ghd's head of UK and ROI, Jo Robertson, and UK brand ambassador, Zoe Irwin.
Jo says: "For years, the art of styling has been overlooked in terms of recognised industry qualifications. There are colour and cutting degrees out there, but nothing that focuses on developing an indepth knowledge of styling in all its forms. Last year we teamed up with the VTCT (Vocational Training Charitable Trust) to look at creating a recognised qualification that is acknowledged to represent the highest level of skill in styling and we're very proud to be launching it at ghd."
