It was a study in contrasts for Saco at Salon International as they presented their dual-personality new collection, The Light.
Divided in to two distinct sections with two very different moods, the collection was tied together through architectural inspirations - what creative director Richard Ashforth described as, "architecture on a human scale." He explained that parametric design served as the main inspiration - the concept of linking different points in the most efficient way, as initially demonstrated through video game development and now commonly used in forward-thinking architecture. Journeying to the dark side of the collection, Code consisted of inky blue-blacks and violet-browns shot through with vibrant flashes of red and aqua-marine - all with a super high-shine finish. Cuts were hard, structured and bold with daringly strong lines - but it wasn't all about graphic angles; there were also shapely curls and dressed long hair inspired by dark romance. Working with champagne blondes, the strong lines and architectural influences were still evident, but with an overall lighter and softer mood. Colour made an impact, with blends of peach, purple and soft green-greys bringing a three-dimensional feel to blonde bases. The dual elements of Static and Code combined for contrasting moods of light and shade, day and night - but the overall message was one of a dynamic, unified collection with plenty of salon-friendly elements for the international audience to take back to salons in every corner of the globe.
